Thursday 20 June 2024
10:00 - 14:00
International Geneva organizations are heavily dependent on foreign funding. Against a backdrop of tightening public finances and the need to diversify funding sources, the search for funds from foreign private donors is becoming more important than ever.
While most governments encourage philanthropy through tax incentives, these are national by nature and therefore restrict the incentive to donate to foreign entities. Nevertheless, solutions do exist.
This two-part event will address the issue of cross-border philanthropy with a workshop that will introduce NGOs to the mechanism offered by Transnational Giving Europe. It will then be followed by a round-table discussion that will address the context, challenges and prospects of cross-border philanthropy in Europe and globally.
